How do i get the email sign up to work for gmail.

You should not have problem to sign up the form using Gmail email.

Is that what you are asking me?

When I send an email to the address i specify...it doesnt subscribe me to the list

gmail settings are as follows:

POP3: pop.gmail.com
User: MyUserName (do i need @gmail.com here?) tried both and nothing
Pass: MyPassword
Port: 995 (also tried 110) gmail support has 995.

After each email...i made sure to activate the starter image and nothing.
I dont know if Im doing something wrong....it doesnt seem to be working.

Do you still need the subscribe form... or can you send an email to the address from another account?

Use an email account which you host yourself.
Example: webmaster@yourowndomainname.com
That way you can be certain of the settings.
Also, use the default port no.
