Dear Dr,

Could you help me with the following setup issues I am facing. I cannot find where autoresponder setup is located.

Q1. Please describe in detail the way to setup my autoresponder. I want to send a 7 part course to subscribers, with each part being delivered 10 days apart? That is, Part 1 is sent immediately (as soon as subscription is received), Part 2 is sent 10 days later, Part 3 is sent ten days after Part 2 and so on, until the Part 7 is sent 61 days later.

Please don't redirect me to the manual. If you could use an example it may help better.

Q2. I also want to setup an autoresponder to send a message immediately, then 3 days after first contact, then 7 days after first contact, then 14 days after first contact. That is, not on regular sequential days.

Q3. Where do I set the autoresponder settings globally for a particular account?

Q4. Can I set a single account (such as newsletters), autoresponder settings for every one in the list for that account? Where do I do this? Please give a path> and description on how to achieve this.

Q5. Regarding the 7 Part course from Q1. above, do I write an email for each part of the course, then put a link in each of the emails that direct the reader to the relevant part of the course? Please describe in detail with anexample, if you would to help me understand how it will works.

Q6. Under Account>Subscriber Manager>In the Prospects list>under the heading Email, when I click on an email address it goes to "Edit Prospects".
In the "Edit Prospects" box at the bottom, there are two options:

1. Without Sequence.
2. Add Prospects into sequences beginning with day.

Neither of these are mentioned in the manual. Please show me what are these used for? How do I use them? Can you give a detailed example to make it clear? The manual does not have any descriptions (especially in detail), to show how the autoresponder part of FMLP Pro works. It would be so much simplier to use if there were working examples, they would be very useful to first time users.

Q7. I noticed that the autoresponder year only goes to 2011 - What happens after that? Does the autoresponder stop working?

Q8. Is it possible for me the administrator to send a single reply to a support question from a client? How and where do I achieve this?

Q9. Can a client who subscribes to an account (such as newsletter subscription), change their email address themselves. Is there facility within FMLP Pro to allow subscribers to this? If so, how and where? If not must it be done manually?

Q10. If I setup a tracking link for a newsletter subscription in an account I called newsletter, is that link useable for all other accounts I set up (such as support or course), or do I have to set that tracking link up in each account seperately?

Q11. In "Accounts" > under "Edit Messages" > if I click on "Edit", the following page near the bottom, under "Personlizing Your Messages", there is the following:

"New!Load content from templates
[LOAD_FROM_FILE_mysignature1] - Load content from file mysignature1.txt
[LOAD_FROM_FILE_mysignature2] - Load content from file mysignature2.txt"

What does this mean and how do I load the templates?
I am not a programmer so please supply details.

Q12. In "Accounts" under "HTML Form" can the form be made to be more secure from spammers. I have stopped spam mail by using Formmail.PHP script where I could encrypt my email addresses. Since using HTML Form I have noticed some spam mail getting through to my server.

Can my Email addresses be disguised in the FMLP Pro's "HTML Form".

Q13. In Accounts>HTML form>under Form Preview, I filled in my name and email then clicked subscribe, but nothing happened. Am I doing something wrong?

I have gone through the forum, manual, and readme text file, reading everything available, but nothing discusses these issues.
Suggestion: Detailed descriptions and explanations would be a useful addition for 1st time users.

I am floundering at present and need your help. Please give as much detail as possible with working examples, one line answers will not solve this problem.

Most of the help info you really need are contained in the readme file.
The FMLP Pro is very intuitive to use and I seldom receive complaint from my users.
Nevertheless, I will attempt to answer your questions below:


Q1. Please describe in detail the way to setup my autoresponder. I want to send a 7 part course to subscribers, with each part being delivered 10 days apart? That is, Part 1 is sent immediately (as soon as subscription is received), Part 2 is sent 10 days later, Part 3 is sent ten days after Part 2 and so on, until the Part 7 is sent 61 days later.

Please don't redirect me to the manual. If you could use an example it may help better.

Here are the steps:
a. Open your account
b. Click EDIT MESSAGES
c. Click ADD NEW MESSAGES
d. Write your message
e. SELECT THE TYPE OF THIS MESSAGE: AUTORESPONDING: X DAYS AFTER REGISTRATION
where X is the number of days eg., 0, 10, 20, 30 etc...

Q2. I also want to setup an autoresponder to send a message immediately, then 3 days after first contact, then 7 days after first contact, then 14 days after first contact. That is, not on regular sequential days.

Follow the same steps above, now in step e use:
0, 3, 10, 24 etc.

Q3. Where do I set the autoresponder settings globally for a particular account?

You can change them under GLOBAL SETTINGS.

Q4. Can I set a single account (such as newsletters), autoresponder settings for every one in the list for that account? Where do I do this? Please give a path> and description on how to achieve this.

See answer to previous question.
What other autoresponder settings (for every one in the list) are you referrring to?

Q5. Regarding the 7 Part course from Q1. above, do I write an email for each part of the course, then put a link in each of the emails that direct the reader to the relevant part of the course? Please describe in detail with anexample, if you would to help me understand how it will works.

You can do this two ways:
a. Put your message in the body of the autoresponder message, or
b. Put the links to the webpage containing your message in the body of the autoresponder message.
The best way, however, is to use a combination of the above.

a. Without Sequence- means your prospect is added without entering into a sequence. He will not be sent any messages from your sequence of messages.
b. Add Prospects into sequences beginning with day- means a prospect is added into a sequence starting from the xth day. He will receive message starting from the xth day's sequence of messages.


Q7. I noticed that the autoresponder year only goes to 2011 - What happens after that? Does the autoresponder stop working?

Where did you see this? The autoresponder will not stop working in 2011. It will work for as long as you want it to.


Q8. Is it possible for me the administrator to send a single reply to a support question from a client? How and where do I achieve this?

Yes, you can do this by replying him using your normal pop mail client eg., Outlook Express. Normally you will receive reply from your prospects to your autoresponder message. This will be sent to the FROM field in your Autoresponder. Simply reply to this message. This is the simplest way and I use this myself.

Go to ADD NEW MESSAGES select MODIFY CONTACT INFO to insert the tag: [MODIFY_CONTACT_INFO] into your message body.

You can edit the file in subscriber_pref.html insider the personal/templpersonal/ folder.

Q10. If I setup a tracking link for a newsletter subscription in an account I called newsletter, is that link useable for all other accounts I set up (such as support or course), or do I have to set that tracking link up in each account seperately?

No, you need to set up tracking links for every account.


Q11. In "Accounts" > under "Edit Messages" > if I click on "Edit", the following page near the bottom, under "Personlizing Your Messages", there is the following:

It means it will load the content of the files which you can edit in the personal/signature folder.

No, you can't. I suggest you use double optin all the time. This will prevent spamming.

Make sure your cron is working and your autoresponder is installed properly before using this feature.
Always, try sending yourself messages using the the GLOBAL SETTINGS/PERFORMANCE/MAIL PROGRAM PERFORMANCE TEST.

c. How and Where can I send a personal one off email reply back to a support request?

Although I tick all the "Show Extra" fields and "Show Fields", they are not displayed the next time I enter the page.

POP3 Server: mail@mydomain.com
POP3 Port: 110
POP3 User: bounce@mydomain.com
POP3 Password: *********

When I go back to the "Bounced Email Handling Tool" and click on "Test", I get the following Error Message:

"Cannot open connection to mail@mydomain.com: Invalid argument/errors detected please check your settings.

Q. Does this give a clue as to what is happening and how I can fix the problem?
I have checked with the server and they say my POP3 server setting (mail@mydomain.com) is correct.
I know the password is correct.

go to "At Date" and click on the arrow to change the year.

You will see it's range is 2008 to... 2011.
Q. Does FMLP Pro always allow 4 years prior management? Will it update to 2012 next year?

1. Without sequence- you use this when you just want to add a prospect to your list, and you don't want to send them messages from your sequence of messages.
2. Add Prospects into sequences beginning with day- you use this when you want to add a prospect to your sequence of messages starting with day x.

a. You are attempting to use FMLP Pro as a support desk- something it is not designed to do. FMLP Pro is an autoresponder and mailing list management tool. It will not allow the same subscriber to subscribe twice using the same email address for obvious reason- but since you are trying to use it as a support desk this feature is required.

b. I suggest you either 1) delete your subscribers periodically so they may "subscribe" again or 2) Get a professional Support Desk like PerlDesk.

c. If a subscriber contacts you by clicking reply to your autoresponder message, you would receive an email at the FROM email address. You can simply reply to this email.

If the subscriber subscribe to the autoresponder, an email would be forwarded to the Admin if you set it to. You can reply to this email.

You can do it by putting each month's newsletter in ACCOUNT/EDIT MESSAGE/SEND SUBSCRIBE CONFIRMATION MESSAGE and put the monthly messages in ADD NEW MESSAGES and specify the sending date via /AT DATE.

You need to select them each time you want to display the extra fields.

The TEST feature works on mine. On most cpanels, the POP3 User is bounce+mydomain.com

Open your account >Click EDIT MESSAGES >Click ADD NEW MESSAGES

go to "At Date" and click on the arrow to change the year.

You will see it's range is 2008 to... 2011.

There is no time limit on FMLP usage. The feature you mentioned will be automatically updated in 4 year intervals.

a. You can use any web mail (gmail) instead of pop mail (Outlook Express).
b. The problem with some web mail is their built in spamming checking feature which interpret multiple identical email messages as spam and put your test messages in the junk/spam folder.

Example: you may have a sequence of messages for Day=0,2,4,6

Day 0 message is just to thank your subscriber for signing up and telling him you will send him more messages in the coming days.

Day 2 message is the first "real" message that you send to your subscribers.

For some visitors, you may not want to send Day 0 message. Instead, you opt to send them messages 2, 4, 6.

This is just an example.

I have been waiting for a reply to the question below for over a week. I first posted the question along with others on the 01-26-2008, 03:57 AM it's now the 02-04-2008, 8:15.

I have email you privately (off forum) to remind you my question has not been answered satisfactorily (re:MODIFY CONTACT INFO - see below), and you requested my login information and password, which I sent.

You then requested my purchase receipt - which has only slowed the process up further to getting FMPL Pro set up for my needs.
I sent an email 2 days ago requesting an update and have still not received a reply!

You said once that you:
"never leave a question unanswered for more than 12-24 hrs (unless it is a holiday)."

Just received your email. Thank you.

You requested that I download the update to FMLP Pro.

I am concerned about doing that as I may loose the 7 accounts and their settings that I have set up.

Q. Will this update over-write the account settings that I have set up?

Dear Dr Quek,

I am getting quite frustrated in my attempts to setup FMLP Pro. I need replies a little more quickly!

I am very concerned that after purchaing the 5 license version, why I was sent an obviously out-of-date version. All the files were from 2005.

After questioning you about certain features that were advertised, but did not work (such as the MODIFY CONTACT INFO feature), I received a short reply back from you stating:

"I will resend an email I sent 2 days earlier".

I never received that original email from you, and have never had emails get lost. It appears it may not have been sent.

When I finally received the email from you 7 days after my original enquiry it once again was a short reply with no information, which stated

"that I should download a newer version of FMLP which will resolve the problem with updating user data".
I might add the update files are mostly from October 2007.

My frustration stems from wondering:
Q1. Why was I originally sold what appears to be an out-of-date version - which has resulted in me wasting a week of my time, setting up the accounts I needed? I have literally wasted that much time. Installing files, creating web pages, playing with settings and testing.

Q2. Why were there not some instructions to help me re-install the new version. I downloaded the newer version of FMLP Pro and noticed the size of the file was greater than the original version. I also noticed it contained all the files from the original version plus more, so I deleted my original version to avoid conflicts.
I am presently trying to install the newer version, but find several folders are loading up to my sever but are NOT shown at the servers end. I am using filezilla to upload the files.

Q3. Is the newer version a stand alone version? Do I need to re-install the older version first and then install the newer version on top of the older version?

I request detailed assistance so I don't end up wasting any more time, can you contact me as soon as possible with a helpful reply? I don't mean to be troublesome it's just that your program is not as intuitive as you may believe especially when using an older version.?

A1. No, this will not over-write the account settings that you have set up.

A2. We have emailed you the update so I hope the issue is resolved.

A3. You are not deliberately sent an outdated version. We are selling the scripts through a number of Vendor sites and the site where you bought the script was not updated with the right files. After checking your receipt and your script we realised the error and sent you the update FOC.

A4. You can install the file as you did before. The is a stand alone version and you do not need the old version to install. There is only minor changes between both versions. Just make sure you upload all files to your server.

Is there a way to run "bounced mails" manually?

And, I thought I seen a check box somewhere that if a subscriber removes them self they would be added to the blacklist. But I can't find it again unless I saw this in another program and just think I seen it in FMLP Pro. If I'm not going crazy where is the setting?

Q1. There is no manual running of bounced mails. You can set the cron interval to activate the script more regularly.
